Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.
(BUT NOT FOR THE FAMILY POD, we are going to be surprised!)
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
The top of your uterus is about halfway between your pubic bone and your navel, and the round ligaments that support it are thickening and stretching as it grows. You're probably feeling a whole lot better as you settle into pregnancy, too. Less nausea, fewer mood swings, and "glowing" skin contribute to an overall sense of well-being.Soon you'll experience one of the most wonderful moments of pregnancy — feeling your baby move. While some women notice "quickening" as early as 16 weeks, many don't feel their baby move until about 18 weeks or more. (And if this is your first baby, don't be too impatient — you may not be aware of your baby's movements until 20 weeks or so.) The earliest movements may feel like little flutters, gas bubbles, or even like popcorn popping. Over the following weeks they'll grow stronger and you'll be able to feel them much more frequently.

About me. Nope no movements yet, I know its coming though! I am hopeful that I can tell the difference between the baby moving and my normal rumbly in my tumbly! Since my RNY I have a stomach that sounds like Mt. Saint Helens on May 17th (the day before the big eruption...for those of you that don't know)! I am concerned that I won't know if I am feeling the baby or the flutters of whatever it was I just ate. TRUST ME when I say, my stomach and abdomen region is constantly active doing something.
I haven't really suffered from any illness or anything but I have been plagued with headaches. They seem to be going away but there was a good three days that I just felt like a big throbbing pressure cooker was sitting on the base of my neck! I also have started enjoying (and I use the term loosely) some hormonal changes. I had a crying day last week, I couldn't even begin to tell you what brought it on. Every little thing- I was just SAD. Nothing particular was making me feel sad, I just had what my husband calls "the hump". Its a Brit term...and boy howdy did I have it! I think that is gone too- I have had a good couple of days and think the black cloud has lifted.
Today the Princess and I have a full schedule, we are going to take a nap then make some of my Grandmothers famous Watergate Salad (its wonderful little side dish/dessert that tastes like heaven) if you want the recipe I would be more than happy to share it. It reminds me of my grandmother who has long since died. I think I was 13 or so when she passed. But, whenever I eat this or her famous Strawberry cake I am transported to a different time and place. Its WONDERFUL. I am hopeful that the Princess enjoys it. She was totally on board when she saw that the recipe contained marshmallows!
A most wonderful Labor Day weekend to all, and I hope that you have lots of fun in the sun planned with your loved ones. :)
