Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
I love the description of this week, the Lanugo-ewww. I mean I know its there for a reason but its kind of gross in its description (especially for this cheese lover). I think I shall choose to describe it like the wax coating of a paper cup. Not of my favorite food item sticking to my little one!
This past week has been full of changes- we are changing The Princess's school she will be attending a private Christian school starting tomorrow. She SAYS she wont cry when we drop her off but I am not holding my breath! I am so glad to have her out of the daycare/pre-k program she is currently in. I can not take the scratches from other kids, the accidents (because her teacher wont let her get up to go potty) the bite marks from other kids and the constant references to Hannah Montana and the Princesses new favorite quote "Your boyfriend is a vampire". What?? Anyway we are hopeful that this new school provides a NICE learning environment for her, and that she learns a bit more before she starts Kinder. This school she could actually attend until she is in the 8th grade. *provided we can continue to afford it!*
I decided after a dream the other night (I had cut my hair off BOY SHORT)-that I was going to make the big leap. I havent had a hair cut in over 3 years. SO, I decided yesterday was the day! I went to the salon, made an appt and then called three of my closest friends to find out what they though. Everyone said GO FOR IT...so I did. I cut all of my length off, all of my dead split ends off and what was left of a relaxer kit from over two years ago. I am SO happy with the results. Lets just hope I can replicate the blowdry and flat ironing of Jennifer (my new BFF and stylist haha). I only look confused in this picture I was talking I think. The one where I am actually smiling is sooo bad I decided this was the best of the two!
I feel good, I cant believe I am starting week 19. WOW...my next appt is on the 8th. I cant wait to see the baby again! I have felt the baby moving stronger this past week. One day at my desk it felt as though it swished from the left to right of my lower abdomen like a little swimmer-Michael Phelps perhaps?? Or maybe Dara Torres! I am loving it its a weird sensation and so beautiful at the same time. This has just been so fun!! I am also thinking, this is a good time to start some belly pictures. IT'S there...and well, I want to show you! Next time....
